Gallery IS Presents: Solo Show

Debbie Hunter- Technicolour Splendor

Debbie Hunter's show promises to be full of her very unique and vibrant use of colour and design. This past year Debbie won the master class of the Central Zone Show at the ACACA and also the Sterling Award at the Alberta Wide ACACA show at the Red Deer and District Museum. She is also a recipient of the Lillian Nunn Scholarship.

Gallery IS patrons will have the chance to be a part of this award winning artist's First Solo Show this January. Debbie Hunter is currently working and living in Stettler AB and is originally from Red Deer Alberta.

A First Solo Show by Corinne Anderton

Gallery IS, is pleased to present the first solo show by local artist Corinne Anderton, "Revelations: Revealing the Divine".
Corinne's vision for her solo opportunity is an installation centering around fabric and encaustic painting with wax . An avid and experienced quilter, Corinne will explore the possibilities of fibre art in a 3D environment.
Expect the unexpected from this experimental artist.


Join us in celebration with the artist on Nov 9th, from 6:00 - 8:00pm. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.

2nd Annual Miniatures Exhibition

Open call to all artists. We are now accepting submissions for our 2nd Annual Miniatures Show and Sale. This is an exciting show centering around miniature works of art. This show takes place over the Christmas holidays and is a great opportunity for gift buying.

All media are acceptable. Professional, emerging, and student work will be considered. Submitted 2D works must be 5x7 or 6x6 inches, and below. 3D works must be 6 inches or less in hight and width. A maximum of 3 submissions per artist please. If accepted we can showcase up to 10 pieces in the show.

The deadline for submissions to the Gallery's miniatures group show has been extended to Nov 16th.
Notice of acceptance will be given by Nov 18th.
Delivery of accepted artwork must be made by Nov 23rd.

Please refer to our submission guidelines.

SUBMISSION FEE FOR ENTRY IS $5.00 PER ARTIST.

Official show dates are Nov 26th to Dec 24th, 2007.
The show might be held over after christmas for Boxing Day shoppers.
Opening reception TBA.

Face to Face: A Portrait Show

Our upcoming September exhibit is a new collection of portraits done by both Gallery I.S. represented artsists and juried work from selected Alberta artists.

We hope you are able to come and see this great new show.
The exhibit runs from September 4th to October 4th, 07.
A reception is shedualed for September 20th, 6-8pm.

The exhibit includes works in painting, bronze sculpture, ceramics and jewellery.

New Solo Show by Erika Schulz

"A Space Oddity" is the result of Erika's love for science fiction. At an early age Erika was a fan of Star Trek. Her appreciation for the sci-fi genre has grown with her and now she finds great inspiration in the movies, television, and liturature of sci-fi.

Please visit the gallery between Aug 6th and Aug 31st to view this collection of over 20 all new paintings. Some of the highlights include a zodiac series, a city of the future, robots, and many, many rockets. These works are done in Erika's unique "drawing with paint" style.


The opening reception is set for Aug 10th, 6-8 pm. Drinks and munchies available. The artist will be in attendance. Everyone is welcome. Admission is free.

Open call to all artists. We are now accepting submissions for our next group exhibit. The theme of this show is the portrait and the figure. Please submit work dealing with this theme. All media are acceptable. Professional, emerging, and student work will be considered.

The deadline for submissions to the Gallery's portrait group show is Aug 25th.

Notice of acceptance will be given by Aug 27th.

Delivery of accepted artwork must be made by Sept 1st.

Local Images

Please visit the Gallery IS from July 9th to August 2nd, to view our newest exhibit "A Local Images Show". This exhibit features new works from our represented artists, and selected works by community artists.

Saturday - Due to slow traffic in the mornings, the Gallery will now open @ 11:00am on saturdays.

Red Deer Artwalk

Gallery IS will be represented at Artwalk 2007. This event takes place in Heritage Square (across from the Farmers Market and Red Deer Curling Rink), Saturday June 16th. The festival runs from 9:00am to 5:00pm. This is a wonderful day of art, music, and demonstrations. Admission is free.

Many of our artists will be offering unique artworks, that would not normally be sold in the gallery. This includes miniatures, unframed works, and older pieces. This is a great opportunity to find something special for yourself, or as a gift.

Adventures in Construction

Dear friends. We are very sorry for the delays in showing "Beauty and the Bug". Our exhibit space has fallen victim to a series of construction delays involved with the installation of a back door. As a result of this delay Gallery IS will be holding over Lauren's show until the 7th of July.

Beauty and the Bug new Exhibit Dates: June 10th - July 7th.
Official Opening Reception is STILL ON for June 10th 2-4pm. Everyone is welcome.

New Exhibit

Please visit the gallery from June 5th to 30th for "Beauty and the Bug", the first solo show of artist Lauren Cowles. Lauren is one of our represented artists and we are very happy to be presenting this body of work.

Gordon Cannon New Artist

We are very happy to announce that Gallery IS, is now representing local artist Gordon Cannon. Gordon's work is very wonderful, depicting many scenes of the Alberta landscape and its wildlife. Gord has a strong background in absract styles, and so his current paintings have a very unique style.
