Gallery IS presents "His Hands ... my hand", our October Exhibit of pastel paintings by local artist David Coates.

Here is what David had to say about his works.

"My art is an attempt to reflect, in a small way, the beauty that God has created for us to enjoy. Over time, as I "grow-up", the focus of why and what I create is less about me and more about Him. Therefore, it has become, and it must be "Art with a Mission and Art for a Mission.

I love painting with pastels. They allow me to place "brush-strokes" down without using a brush. They keep me away from finite detail which cause a loss of freedom and expression. My love for pastels is credited to, and was stimulated by the influence of other local artists; Art Whitehead, Susan Woolgar, and David More.

Each painting represents a moment in time. Some express a specific experience or were painted during an actual experience (good or bad). Some pieces were created from what I saw or felt about a scene from our varying Alberta landscape.

"...what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:18b) Enjoy what you see NOW because it is not something that will last forever. The world God created for us to enjoy is ever being changed by what we are doing to it. Therefore, take time to enjoy, appreciate, and protect all that He has created...and give Him thanks. "

This exhibit will be on display from October 4th to 29th, 2011.

Opening reception is First Friday, Oct 7th from 6-9pm.
Everyone is welcome.
